Ethan Sager

I am a Predoctoral Fellow at the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at UC Berkeley, where I work with Edward Miguel. My work focuses on the Kenya Life Panel Study and the Kenya General Equilibrium Study.

I hold my master’s in International Development Policy at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy. Previously, I worked as a survey researcher at Gallup and as a monitoring, evaluation, and learning assistant with the Ross Center for Sustainable Cities at the World Resources Institute.

Research

I have previously worked as a research assistant with:

• Professors Andrew Zeitlin and Billy Jack at gui2de, on the general equilibrium effects of cash transfers in the refugee economy with GiverDirectly in Nairobi.
• Professor Jennifer Tobin at McCourt, on a working paper looking at the impacts of donor fragmentation on the outcomes of aid.
• Professor Andrew Dillon at the Global Poverty Research Lab (Kellogg) looking into the effects of household definitions.

My research interests sit at the intersection of impact evaluation, econometric methodology, and how survey instruments shape what we can learn about welfare in low-income settings.
